This is the best piece of WW1 Trench Art I have seen. Not to mention a much more useful item than a vase. It is a brass artilley shell dated 1917 that has been decorated and also marked Verdun. One of the last big campaigns in WWI. Even General Patton was t leading the newly formed Tank Corp against enemy positions. Patton was at that time a Lt. Colonel. (Patton was wounded in this battle but continued to direct his tanks against enemy positions until he was taken from the front for medical treatment, he was soon promoted to full colonel). This tobacco jar measures slightly over 4 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches across the bottom, and has a bulbous shape. It is skillfully decorated and shaped into a great tobacco storage jar. It also has the original lid that I believe is rosewood. It is clearly stamped July 1917 on the bottom. This is truly a unique tobacco jar for your collection or a great addition to your WWI collection. It is in great original condition. Please email any questions. Thanks for Looking!!!!
