This auction is for a Lovely Antique Porcelain 4-Piece Chamber set with Unusual Lion Head handles made by Edwin Bennett Pottery of Baltimore, Maryland in the late 1800s or early 1900s.The three pitchers and covered soap dish of this set are in company's Alba china line. All the pieces have the company's globe backstamp with the motto "Bona Fama Est Melior Zona Aurea" which translates roughly from the Latin as "A good reputation is better than a golden belt." So true, even at current gold prices.This set Displays Wonderfully and would instantly become the focal point of any room. It would m ake a thoughtful Holiday Gift for someone spe cial. What makes the set so Unique and Distinctive are the Lion Heads on each piece -- atop the handles of each pitcher and atop the lid of the soap dish.Each piece has a highly glazed white porcelain body with a matte finished section of greenish paint highlighted with gold accents.Overall, the set is in good condition, especially for its age. Each piece has crazing as is expected from pieces of this vintage.The large pitcher measures 12 inches tall. There is a small chip on the foot, which is hard to detect (see last photo).
