UNITED CONFEDERATE VETERANS CSA BUCKLE, CHATTANOOGA , TENNESSEE ,1900 This United Confederate Veterans C.S.A. rectangular brass buckle is from the United Confederate Veterans reunion at Chattanooga , Tennessee , held on July 3, 1900 . It is a reunion buckle NOT an original Confederate buckle! It was excavated at the U.C.V. campground on John Ross Road that goes from Chattanooga over the ridge to Rossville Georgia & the Chickamauga battlefield many years ago. This buckle is as found in as found, uncleaned condition with some Tennessee dirt on the front & back & is in very good + excavated condition with allk 3 hooks still on the back. This buckle is from the Francis Bannerman’s New York store; Bannerman had bought the original Atlanta Arsenal mold & made new buckles for the United Confederate Veterans. They were listed in the Bannerman’s 1925 catalog, page 262 There were less than 100 made before the mold broke so they are now considered rare on their own but ones definitely worn by a Confederate veteran is very desirable! It comes with a letter of the historian who found it.
