This set is bound in the original leather covers and spines. An Universal History, from the Earliest Account of Time. Compiled from Original Authors; and Illustrated with maps, cuts, notes, &c. and a general index to the whole. London, printed for T. Osborne, in Gray's Inn; T. Miller, in the Strand; and J. Osborne, in Pater-noster Row. 1747-1748. Complete with all 20-volumes as issued with volume 20 containing a thorough index and a preface to the set. These measure 8 inches tall. This is a very high quality set. The full calf leather bindings are very fresh and are of a high quality. The gilt embossing is also very ornate with very decorative spines, and gilt frames to the covers. This set is very rare. Even the original spines are all present. It is very uncommon for a set so early to still retain their original spines.This set is filled with at least 102 unique Maps and Plates, most of which are large fold-outs. These maps are gorgeous as is shown. The directions to the binder for the placement of the cuts (plates and maps) only calls for 89, so this set would appear to have all the original maps and possibly read more
