Very Rare Unknown Glass Blowpipe / Blowtorch – Although this small, glass, alcohol blowpipe lamp is unidentified, its construction is such that I strongly believe that it is a manufactured torch. The blowpipe tube, unique rotating “head”, wick tube, cap and chain just seem to me to be professionally done. The glass alcohol container is 1 3/4 inches in diameter by 3 3/4 inches in height. The container is old based on the vertical mold seams and common trapped air bubbles within the glass. The lid is nonmagnetic and my guess is that its tin. The wick tube, wick cap, and the retaining chain are brass. The curved blowpipe tube is brass and soldered to the margin of the lid on the opposite side from the wick tube. This tube is sealed on its upper end. About 1/8 inch below the top of the blowpipe is a circular opening 1/8 inches in diameter, this opening facing the wick. The upper cap holding the three blowpipe tubes is also brass and fits over the curved blowpipe. Each of the three tubes is of a different internal opening for variation in intensity of the air flow across the wick. The smaller diameter tube would obviously produce, or result in, a finer pin-point flame and the larger diameter tube would result in a broad flame.
