An original and historic Mexican War-Civil War period diploma from the WEST POINT MILITARY ACADEMY, from the estate of Major General Richard Delafield....Size 16 1/4" x 21 3/4" [too large for scanner, shown in parts], never used, engraved and printed on vellum, very good condition but shows its age with light staining and spots of foxing, had been rolled and stored in a barn for many years. This historic diploma would look very impressive if framed....RICHARD DELAFIELD [1793-1873] was a career military officer who graduated West Point in 1818. He led the Delafield Commission in 1856 which went to Europe to observe the Crimean War. He was then re-appointed Superintendent of West Point from 1856-1861. He was a Major General in the Civil War and commanded the Army Corps of Engineers.....Guaranteed original.....$6.00 shipping rolled in tube..... Over forty years in business. 14 day return.
