UnusualAntique Carved Bone Thread Winder English * Circa 1830 This unusual carved bone * antique silk winder is almost 4" long with octagonal ends. Each end has a drilled hole, more for decoration, I think, than any particular purpose. It's wrapped with red thread. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or other damage. This is the actual winder that was photographed for the middle plate on page 14 of Diane Pelham Burn's book, Thread Winders, A Collectors Guide and was formerly in her collection. *This item is made of bone from a domestic cow (bovine) and not from an endangered species. I stand behind everything that I offer and guarantee that it is exactly as presented. ** Full Insurance is included in the low shipping price for all of my auctions. ** ** Illustrated newsletters available on Antique Sewing Tools ** If you would like to be on my mailing list and receive the newsletters, email me at cmmeacham on AOL or visit my Elegantarts website to download them.
