UNUSUAL ANTIQUE SOLID SILVER JUG GEORGE FOX LONDON 1879 SIGNS OF THE ZODIAC A solid silver antique milk jug hallmarked for London 1879 by maker George Fox. There is an inscription on the base indicating that the jug was given as a gift for stocktaking in 1897. The jug is quite unusual as it displays all the signs of the zodiac around the bowl, incredibly fine and beautifully detailed work and none of the detail has been lost by over zealous cleaning. The interior retains the original gilding as shown. There are two small dings on the base edge as shown in photo 6 but otherwise the jug is perfect and measures 3.5 inches tall and weighs 116g.
