Antique Wood STICKWARE DARNING EGG Sock Darner Inlaid Sewing Tool * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Offered is a desirable late 19th century to early 20th century wooden Stickware type darning egg measuring 2-1/2”L by 1-7/8”W. Its unusual design is expertly inlaid and super smooth to the touch after being turned on a lathe to create its form (lathe mark can be seen on one end). It’s comprised of 2 alternating types of wood dividing the egg into quarters; I believe that the darker wood is cherry. It remains in desirable condition with only light character wear in the form of slightly darkened needle marks as shown within its warm patina.
