A most unusual Georgian tea caddy dating to around 1790-1810 in Mahogany, the front being inlaid with two Cannons.The top is inlaid with Boxwood and Ebony and the lid is edged in Boxwood and Ebony stringing. Around the base is an inlaid band of almost Tunbridge Ware - like micro-mosaic inlay. The lid opens to reveal a double compartment interior with two lids. The inside of the lid has been re-lined in a hand-marbelled paper. The box does come with a working key. Excellent condition, measuring 7 1/4" x 4 1/4" x 4 1/2" tall.
