Unusual Galena Grey 4 L- Stoneware Preserve Crock Jar Redware Galena Preserve Jar is approx. 10" Tall and 6" Wide at the Base. This Piece is in Excellent condition. I can find no chips,cracks,repairs or etc. T is one possible shallow 1/4" Flake on the rim. ( May be a manufacturing defect. Hard to tell). (See Photos). Otherwise the Pot is perfect. Both the rim and the base are unglazed which is typical for Galena pieces, as is the concentric ring around the shoulder. The inside displays nice ribbing from being hand turned. This piece is shown and described on Page 40 & 41 of "Pottery of the Galena Area" By Horney.It states that shards of this unique Grey Slip Pottery were found on Sites in the Elizabeth, Illinois Area. Do you have this Particular Type of Galena Pottery in your Collection? In my opinion, I would consider this Galena Grey Slip Coloration to be quite Rare!!
