Ebay somehow thinks everyone "overnights" their merchandise...THANKS! Up for auction is this pair of neat vintage Mexican sterling silver fish pins. They are heavily marked and the marks are hard to read even with a loupe but I do believe one is marked Taxco but I am not 100 positive. They are about 2 2/4 inches and 1 1/2 inches in length respectively. They are in great condition and would be a nice addition to any collection. No reserve! Unfortunately, many factors that affect shipping are beyond our control. We are just a couple of people with real jobs and we will do our best to ship your item as quickly as possible. We do not have a "shipping department" or a warehouse full of shipping supplies. Each item we sell has its own unique shipping challenges. We sell antiques/collectibles and other items and each one has a different packing process and/or box size. Many fragile items require 2 or even more boxes. Many folks do not know that ebay charges US...not you....a commission percentage whatever our shipping costs are. For example if we charge $20.00 for shipping, ebay charges 9 percent commission. Which in this case would be $1.80. So we are left with $18.20 for shipping. Ok so now we have $18.20...and we will start with the post office as an example. First of all the post office will NOT insure a fragile item for damage....just for loss. According to the post office all items should withstand 70 pounds of something else being dropped on it. THINK ABOUT IT.... SEVENTY POUNDS! No matter how well it is packed, according to ebay regulations it is OUR FAULT if an item gets damaged in shipping. We are responsible for items safe arrival no matter what. So if we ship a glass vase and it becomes damaged, we are out the cost of the vase, the shipping supplies sometimes if they are not reusable, the shipping cost, the price of the vase that we paid for it, not to mention the gas, and all the rest of the expenses involved in going to auctions, estate sales, or whatever other way we get our merchandise. Your item, naturally, has to be shipped in some type of box or other container. We try our best to get free good boxes or reuseable boxes whenever possible, however, we do not have a giant warehouse in our backyard full of free boxes that we miraculously grow, and go pick out of our "box garden". We have to buy 'em! Boxes aren't cheap. Go to your local UPS store and check it out yourself. The average price for a box the size of a shoe box is about $4.00. The post office has Priority Mail boxes, which we have and use as much as possible. HOWEVER....Priority mail is very expensive so many times we have to ship parcel post. Many times bidders do not want to pay Priority Mail prices either. The post office will not let you use a Priority Mail box for parcel post. So let's say we buy a box for an item which is $4.00 and now we are down to $14.20 for shipping. We have to wrap it in something and we will NOT or ever use newspaper to ship ANYTHING....period. We usually buy bubble wrap and packing peanuts for fragile items which is, in this area, about $20.00 for a large bag of packing peanuts, and bubble wrap runs about 50 cents a foot.
