As the Victorian era drew to a close and ideas on ornamentation using the natural world were instigating Art Nouveau, some weird and wonderful imaginings appeared - this is a heavy cast brass chamberstick adorned with a leaf and three beetles. Guesstimate c. 1890 - 1910. Very heavy but good quality cast brass tray, candleholder and ornate handle Circular tray with base ring Balluster shaped candleholder adorned with nicely cast scarab and ladybird type beetles The handle professes to be a curled stalk, running from the base ring to the candleholder, including a leaf and an exotic flower near the end SIZE - 2" base ring; 4.5" tray slightly convex; total height = 2.75" CONDITION - a bend in the tray; a little tarnish particularly where wax has been; surplus cleaning material HAVE NOTHING IN YOUR HOUSES THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW TO BE USEFUL OR BELIEVE TO BE BEAUTIFUL.
