The US Cavalry introduced the M-1906 spurs as the first 'humane" spurs, meaning those without rowells or sharpened points. They were used in action for the first time in the Punitive Expedition into Mexico in pursuit of the bandit ( some would say revolutionary) Pancho Villa. We have included a photo of General John J. Pershing, the expedition commander, and later commander of US troops in Europe during WW1, splashing across the Rio Grande on horseback. If one looks closely, he is seen to be wearing a pair of M-1906 spurs. These spurs were used through WW1, when the US cavalry waited in vain to exploit a breakthrough which never came, and even WW2, when using the US cavalry in China was considered. Finally , though, that idea was shelved, and with that decision the days of the US horse soldier came to an end. These spurs are in excellent condition, marked US and the initials AB for A. Buermann, their manufacturer. They are a great relic of a bygone era, that of the legendary US Cavalry. : All items are 100% guaranteed, your satisfaction or complete refund. 7-day return policy.
