Great items for the historian, collector, World War 2 re-enactor, or living history display. These personal items are in great condition and ready for use or display... This is a really interesting item - the US Army and other services required their soldiers to mark every item with a code , usually the first letter of their last name and 4 digits of serial number - for example, E-0036. In the field manuals t are even detailed instructions about W to put this mark on every item of uniform and equipment. You'll see this mark in trouser waistbands and mussette bags, everything was supposed to be marked. This is a private purchase marker set, clearly dated 1944, by MI Marker of Marion KY. Inside is a stamp mounted on a wood handle, a bottle of ink, and a small stamp pad (essentially a bit of felt on a wood support). The ink label has been "inked" so it can't all be read (not sure if t is any liquid inside, I am not opening it). Everything is in very good condition, the box is solid - The stamp (obviously custom made) is E-0036. Great item, essential for the historian! Great items for the footlocker display. Please look at the pictures and ask questions before you bid! You know more about this than I do!!! All items sold as is!!!
