Outstanding US M1905 bayonet and scabbard, both unmodified. Untouched examples such as this are very scarce. When you add the matching original scabbard that it was placed in over 100 years ago you have a rare collectors dream set. SA 1906 US Serial Number 103755 Bayonet Bayonet was made at the Springfield Armory in 1906, the first year of M1905 bayonet production.The wooden grips are original, with the rough vertical machining grooves still visible. This bayonet falls into the "bright-blade" category. Overall Length 20 1/2 inches - Blade Length 16 inches. Serial Number 103755. NOTE : Bayonet is in very good condition. It has been oiled and cleaned with 0000 Steel Wool. R.I.A. 1907 H.E.K Scabbard Scabbard was made at the Rock Island Arsenal in 1907. The scabbard body is made of wood, covered with rawhide that has been shrunk tight, over which the russet-colored leather cover was applied. The seam on one side has come apart and is in need of repair. The initials, H.E.K. are the leather goods inspector's initials. The belt hanger is the same design as was used with the M1892 Krag bayonet scabbard. The hanger is made for wear on the wide Mills-type cartridge belt that had loops to hold individual cartridges. Documentation from 1939 indicates that only 6,848 unmodified M1905 scabbards remained in inventory at that time. The above read more
