USA, Scott Catalog No.65, 3c rose on yellow cover sent from Squam Village to Jersey City, NJ, with a fancy wagon wheel cancel. Pencilled cover notes on front contend that when stamp is folded back, as shown, a normal impression of the regular stamp is visible underneath, which could not be confirmed by us. However, the stamp could have been added later over the impression discussed, as it is not clearly tied to the cover. Cover cut open left, not backstamped. Cancel ink smudges on reverse, as shown, and stamp creased, as already noted, otherwise fine, with no additional faults. Squam Village, NJ, is one of the small towns now possibly part of Manasquan, NJ. If this is indeed the postmark of Squam Village, NJ, as claimed, it would be quite rare. Offered as is.
