A mint condition example of an original and unofficial USA Parachutist-Glider qualification insignia made in metal. At the end of WW-II, t was a move to bring glider regiments into the parachute qualified structure (partly so the troops could receive jump pay) and during period circa 1946-1950 t was an attempt to get approval for a dual qualification insignia for glider and parachute qualified troops. This proposal was never appeared. When the Senior parachutist insignia was approved in 1949, the dual qualification proposal added the Senior level to the unofficial insignia which were tolerated at the time in some units. This insignia has no hallmark, but is marked STERLING , and is clutchback. The reverse of the parachute area is concave, not solid. Payment with Money Order or personal check.
