CRASH TRUCK MOD 135 USAAF CORPS of ENGINEERS FORD 1943AMERICAN LA FRANCE-FOAMITE CORP Veh ID PLATES EX+ RAREA true ONE of A KIND "NOMANCLATURE OF VEHICLE - FIRE APPARATUS" Identification plate. This plate and ALF name plate are from USAAF Mod 135 Crash Vehicle Foam Truck Delivered November - 1943 to the US Corps Of Engineers US ARMY FIRE SERVICE. US ARMY AIR FORCE Crash service crew at a USAAF Base stateside or possibly over seas. It was found in an Antique shop in Colorado. This plate is from "Model Ford CC Reg. F2037" It was delivered in Nov 1943. I cannot say w the plate was removed it may have been done by a GI over seas or in the states. The plate is in perfect condition. The ALF nameplate appears to be from the same vehicle. Although it was later painted red the original OD Green paint is on the back of the ALF plate. T was apparently only 900 or so 4x2 wheel drive 135 Crash Trucks made. At least one other chassis maker made the bodies and several other fire equipment riggers made the Fire Equipment placed on the body. This is a plate from a Ford version. Lets assume that t was less than 500 Ford Rigs produced. Reduce this by a few hundred rigs fitted by others and we may have a tag from a production run of fewer than a couple hundred. I have learned that as few as 9,000 Army Soldiers served as Crash Crew Firemen in WWII. I read more
