Women also served in the US Marine Corps during WW2, as mechanics, clerical staff, and in other capacities to free men for combat. Female Marines often wore small sized men's garrison caps with their own uniforms, for as long as the material matched fairly well, it was certainly "close enough for government work". This USMC Marine US WW2 WOMEN'S WINTER WOOL GARRISON CAP is in good condition, with some small moth holes at the upper right front and the upper right back, some small moth nips at the lower left front and the lower right back, some surface mothing at the middle left side, a spot of age residue on the interior sweatband, and with some scattered use and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the cap is in fine shape, with no other damage to the tough "forest green" wool construction. It started life as a standard USMC WW2 man's garrison cap, though was used by a Female Marine during the War. It carries the name tag of "VIVIAN E. CAPAUL" on the leather interior sweatband, and also bears the initials "VC" hand scratched into the sweatband. It features a grommet at the left front, boasts a quality interior lining, and is a fine example of an original USMC Marine US WW2 WOMEN'S WINTER WOOL GARRISON CAP.
