SHIPPING NOTE: Patches are shipped in a 6 x 9 manila envelope. This package is too small for the Post Office to issue tracking information. If you want tracking I will put it in a larger envelope and provide tracking at a cost of $3.00 per envelope paid for by the purchaser. If you wish tracking please let me know and I will send you an invoice. Items over $25.00 will be sent insured at my expense.This is an original period patch for this organization. As I have had more than one, and from various sources, there can and will be minor differences from the one scanned, but all are in good condition. I do not "black light" patches - it is an urban myth that you can tell if one is good or not by using one. I have seen good ones fail and bad ones pass. The patch is about 2 1/2" wide. The V Amphibious Corps was a formation of the United States Marine Corps and was composed of the 3rd, 4th and 5th Marine Divisions during World War II. They were the amphibious landing force for the United States Fifth Fleet and were notably involved in the battles for Tarawa and Saipan in 1944 and the Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945. During the course of the war, V Corps was initially commanded by General Holland 'Howlin Mad' Smith and later by General Harry Schmidt.
