This is the official program for the Decommissioning of the U S Navy fast frigate (former destroyer escort DD) USS KIRK FF-1087 . Size is approx. 8 1/2" x 11". Sixteen pages, cover to cover. Event took place on Aug. 6, 1993 at Naval Station Long Beach CA. Capt. Jon B. Bell, USNR was CO. Laid down by Avondale Marine, Avondale LA on 4 December 1970. Launched 25 September 1971, Commissioned 9 September 1972Reclassified Frigate (FF-1087) on 30 June 1975. Decommissioned at Long Beach CA 6 August 1993. Transfered to Taiwan (leased) 6 August 1993, renamed Fen Yang (FF-934). , France , on 6 June 1944 . The armada that conducted the invasion consiste of 702 warships protecting 9000 ships and landing craft. The invasion shifted the tide of WWII in favor of the allies. NORMANDY 's motto is "Vanguard of Victory" and her crew is known as the Vangaurdmen. Commissioned December 9, 1989 , USS NORMANDY (CG 60) is the third Bath , Maine built Aegis Cruiser and the 14th ship of the Ticonderoga class. NORMANDY is named after the allied invasion of Normandy , France , on 6 June 1944 . The armada that conducted the invasion consisted of 702 warships protecting 9000 ship
