Corundum Var. Ruby From: San Gabriel Mountains, Cascade Canyon, Mount Baldy Village, California, USAMeasures: 5.5 x 2.7 x 2.0 cm This specimen has nicely terminated hexagonal ruby crystals that are scattered about matrix on many sides...The color of these crystals range from pink to purple with good luster and partially translucent...many are double terminated!...These specimens also may consists of pyrite,graphite,fuschite (green mica) and titanite (sphene) through out the matrix.....Very cool specimens indeed! The rubies from this location are all very UV fluorescent (2 color) under short wave and long wave UV light. The rubies glow bright red under both short and long wave..Short wave displays yellow scattered about the matrix from an occurrence of Titanite (Sphene). Please note that the UV fluorescent photos above are sample photos of the same material....Guaranteed to shine with great colors!...they all do!!!
