UZBEK SILK HANDMADE EMBROIDERY FROM NURATA. Original type of embroideries appeared first in Nurata. In 19th century it was a big settlement - centre of Nurata-bek territory of Bukhara emirate, w nomadic and local residents carried on trade activity. Local embroideries are usually decorated with floral bouquets that cover white and black background of fabric. By richness and diversity of floral motifs they take a leading place among the Uzbekistan articles. The art of Nurata embroidery was almost lost in the middle of 20th century, and only nowadays the artisan Mukarram Radjabova revived the old ancestors' traditions. This item is a fine Uzbek Silk handmade embroidery - small Suzani from Nurata, Uzbekistan. The foundation of the silk handmade embroidery is silk-cotton fabric of rep weave. The field is embroidered with charming wonderful bouquet composed of carnations and irises. Multiple flowers symbolize fertility and well-being. The colors of the embroidery are soft and brilliant. The borders of suzani are trimmed with ikat adras fabric. Stitch: couching and chain. Size: 48" x 25" (inch)/ 121.9" x 63.5" (cm) Condition: excellent. This small suzani from Nurata is an amazing sample of skill and quality of uzbek handmade embroideries.
