OLD UZBEK SILK HAND- EMBROIDERED SUZANI FROM BOYSUN WITH BUDDISM MOTIFS Search Offered is an old Uzbek artistic embroidery from Boysun. Natural cotton background, manual embroidery with homemade silk threads. Size: 36- 35 in. (93-88 cm) Usually such panel used as a tapestry and decorated an especial wall in a drawing room. Boysun is original "lost world" ringed by mountains in the south of Uzbekistan , a rich source of folk culture traditions. The mountain relief of Boysun and its location for from big cities have provided stability and selfsufficiency of the traditional rural life. In autumn and winter the roads going to highland villages become impassable. Agriculture is still based on the irrigation system of aryks fed from mountain rivers and springs. Some areas remain inaccessible to machinery and are cultivated with a plough. Weaving looms, clay ovens, water mills, oil-mixers and smith's shops play an important role in Boysun everyday life. The ornaments on costumes and craft products go back to the 10-11th centuries. Cattle are considered as the major riches. Practically every Boysun family spends the summer out of their village-kishlak, on summer grasslands.
