S.V.F - Fossilised Fish, Knightia - 50 Million Years old, Wyoming USA Description Diplomystus dentatus Diplomystus was a small herring like fish that lived 50 million years ago in what is now an evaporated lake deposit in the south west of the state of Wyoming. I personally collected this specimen back in 2004 in a quarry 5 miles north of a town called Kemmerer. The system that it was collected from is known as the F1-F2 fossil lake deposit. There are lots of this specimen available from other dealers that have been heavily painted so as to create the illusion of a fossil when it is just the imprint. Please rest assured that this fish is 100% natural showing scales, bones and fin detail. Order Ellimmichthyiformes; Family Ellimmichthyidae Species Knightia Eocaena Age Early Eocene approx 53-49.3 Million Location Green River Formation, Kemmerer, Wyoming The fish measures 10.7 cm Please look at my shop for other fossils. I have some rare and unusual items for sale there. I am primarily a collector and as such have amassed a large quantity of UK and world fossils, most of which have been self collected so please contact me if you require anything specific.
