Van Briggle pottery art began in Colorado Springs in 1902 by Art Nouveau artist Artus Van Briggle. Briggle lived just 35 years but left a lasting legacy of his pottery. Also known shades made of items found in nature which are very collectible and hard to find. This Van Briggle lamp is called Rebecca at Well. It is simply beautiful. The detailed woman, leaning against a tree trunk holding a water jug is classic. This lamp is from the 1970's, according to THE COLLECTOR'S ENCYCLOPEDIA OF VAN BRIGGLE by Richard Sasicki & Josie Fania. The lamp stands 16″ tall with a base diameter of 7 1/2″. The plastic shade has fabric flowers and fabric butterflies pressed into the shade . The base is marked near the cord with the Van Briggle maker's mark. Van Briggle Pottery is the oldest, continuously producing art pottery in the United States.
