Here is another great vintage Van Halen collectible 1978 Original Van Halen Concert Poster A beautifully preserved and rare offering from the California-based band, Van Halen. The poster we are offering dates to 1978, the year the band released their first album. Their tour immediately following the release of their self-titled album scheduled them as the opening act for Black Sabbath. The original line-up for Van Halen, that included David Lee Roth, was like no other heavy metal band. Roth’s showmanship and acrobatic feats added a new dimension, never before seen. The guitar style and techniques of Eddie Van Halen could only be compared with the late Jimi Hendrix. It was the onstage bantering between Roth and Van Halen that made their live shows more entertaining than the typical rock concerts of the day. Ironically, it was the same bantering that led to Roth’s departure some years later. This is one of the earliest examples we've seen with Van Halen topping the bill. The show date is July 3, 1978 at the Armadillo with the Bugs Henderson Group featuring Lynn Groom. The poster measures 17.5" x 11.5".
