is one you don't see very often!You are bidding on one Van Slyke adze tool pictured. Some of the pictures show it installed on a hammer, but this auction is for just the adze, and not the hammer.It is marked "VAN SLYKE TOOL CO NORTH HOLLYWOOD CALIF" on the face.I can't tell you anything about who made it or if it did become patented. Overall length is about 3-3/4", and the blade width is 2" at the sharp end. As shown, it is installed onto a hammer, with the detachable loop and thumbscrew to secure it. The large dimple in the adze surface rests against the face of the hammer. Condition is good and very usable, but it has some very light pitting (or casting flaws) over much of the surfaces.I have another similar tool listed right now on another auction. And if you, like me, are tired of the disappointments as a shopper -- misleading descriptions and poor photographs, "fine" tools that turned out to be repainted when you got them, non original parts that weren't mentioned, and poor packaging, -- then I encourage you to follow my auctions. I come from the handshake school of doing business, and hopefully you are like me and understand what that means. ETHICS IN DESCRIPTIONS: I also buy for my collecting on eBay, and I have been burned too many times by misleading (duh did I forget to mention .......) descriptions, and pictures only of the left side when the right side was trashed. Life is much simpler for me if I disclose what I know or see about an item before you bid, and especially before you receive it in the mail. If I have added or repalced a part, I will tell you. If I think the wedge on a molding plane is not original, I will tell you. If I think a japanned plane has been repainted, I will tell you. What goes around, comes around. RETURN POLICY: I believe that if you give honest descriptions, and include enough pictures, you shouldn't need a return policy. However, that doesn't mean that I won't make an occasional mistake. Please bid with the assurance that if I have made an error in my listing, I WILL take care of you. WASHINGTON STATE BIDDERS: I hate to do this, but if I ship to a Washington address, I either have to charge sales tax at the rate of 8.9%, or receive a valid resale form.PRIORITY MAIL FLAT RATE BOXES FOR HEAVY ITEMS: The Post Office has two sizes of Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes (11-7/8 x 3-3/8 x 13-5/8 inches and 11 x 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches) for which the postage stays the same regardless of weight. WINNING MULTIPLE AUCTIONS: I will always combine multiple purchases to save on shipping, and use the Flat Rate boxes whenever they make sense.OVERSEAS BIDDERS:Shipping will be at my cost for postage plus $2 for packaging materials. The postage cost for Priority Mail to either Australia or the UK ranges from about $20 for 1 pound to $35.15 for a Flat Rate box, and gets more expensive again when you go over 5 pounds and it won't fit in the Flat Rate box.
