This is a large... Vaseline Glass Lemonade Pitcher... in the old "Beaded Shell" pattern... first released by the Dugan Glass Company in 1903... and continued to show up in their catalogs through 1916. The original factory name for this pattern was... "New York". Needless to say... it wasn't long before the "glass collecting world" began calling it the "Beaded Shell"... which sure made a lot more sense. One look at the pattern and the name is t!!!... w that "New York" handle came from I'm sure is lost in time!!!... This Pitcher is unmarked as to maker... and our research reveals that Dugan never made it in Vaseline Glass. So we know for sure it's not of Dugan origin. But... as these old glass makers fell by the wayside... their glass making molds were bought up by other companies... and as these makers in turned closed their doors... still others were... "waiting in the wings"... to pick up the pieces and move on. So the actual maker of this stately Lemonade Pitcher... for the moment... will have to remain a mystery!!!... This is a large Pitcher... standing an impressive 8 and ¼ inches tall... 5 and 3/4 inches across the top... 8 and 3/4 inches from the tip of the pour spout to the curve of the handle... and appears to be in excellent condition. Not many of us use a Lemonade Pitcher... or Water Pitcher... on the dining table anymore. read more
