An original & scarce early 19th Century vellum Officer’s Commission document for a Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The document is made out to John Cooper Gotch Esq & appoints him to be a Captain of a Company in the Corps of Kettering Volunteer Infantry. The document bears the signature & seal of Charles, Earl of Northampton & is dated 1803 (or as it says on the document “in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and three”). The document is in good condition and measures approximately 27cm x 34cm. I think this would look very good if professionally framed.... There is a bit of provenance for this: I have found by doing a basic internet search that this item was part of Lot 1207 in the Dix Noonan Webb medal sale of 17 th September 2004. Please see my other medal sales which may be of interest.
