Very RARE VERMONT SAMPLER Memorial & Family Record 1820 Prev Stop Play Next PLEASE SUPER SIZE PHOTOS FOR BEST VIEW AND CONDITION A FILE OF GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH WILL ACCOMPANY THE SAMPLER An extremely rare VERMONT FOLK ART MEMORIAL AND FAMILY RECORD SAMPLER dated 1820 and naming the town of Tunbridge (Orange County, Vermont). Vermont samplers are quite rare and this is a highly unusual example: worked in a horizontal format that is divided into four columns, the sampler is very large, measuring almost 18" x 31" in its grain painted frame. The sight size or viewing area of the sampler itself measures a bit over 15.5" x 28.5". The four columns represent several generations of the Allen-Austin families. The first two columns the Allen and Austin grandparents; columns three and four two Austin brothers and their families. The first column records the births of Amos and Hannah Allen in 1739 and 1750 respectively. Their daughter, Sarah or Sally Allen, is recorded in "column four" as the wife of Eli Austin. From Sturbridge MA originally, Amos Allen is listed as a veteran of the Revolutionay War buried in Orange County Vermont. The second column records the births of (Col.)
