Very Antique Redwork Art Nouveau with Angel and script - Early 1900's Size: 51" wide x 24" long This wonderful piece of Art Nouveau Redwork shows an Angel holding a banner. Size of the angel is 18" not counting the wings. On the right side of the Angel is the verse: "Gottes Engel halten Wacht ueber Dich bei Tag und Nacht". Translated this means: God's Angels keep watch over you Day and Night. Size of the letters varies between 3" and 1". They were done in the "Old German" script which was used late 1800 - early 1900. Two inch wide scroll border in red cross stitch all around the redwork. Then an additional border 1" wide has been added. The fabric has some yellowing in several areas. I have not tried to wash or restore it in any way. Two areas, about 1" wide, w the outer border has pulls in the yarn. A very well preserved piece of redwork ready to display proudly at your house.
