Very nice and old planimeter signed Hommel-Esser Aarau. Hommel-Esser wasthe second producer of drafting instruments located in Aarau Switzerland , together withthe well known company Kern. In fact, Jacob Kern did his apprenticeship with Ludwig Esser in Aarau in the middle of the 19 th century. This planimeter is in very nice shape, made of German silver, with almost no signs of rust. However, the leather covered wooden box shows its age. It measures 28 x 4 x 5 cm and it weights 300 g. Instruments made by Hommel-Esser are hard to find and this is the first planimeter made by this company, that I see at all. Shipping with insurance to the US is $24, to the EU $18.
