Offered today is a very interesting and ornate bronze Asian urn, possibly Chinese or Japanese, which is believed to be a large incense burner. The piece is entirely made of bronze and is very heavy. It is adorned all around the outside with ornate engravings of what appear to be trees or floral designs. On either side of the urn are 2 very detailed sculptures. One seems to depict a man clothed in ornate oriental robes standing in the branches of a tree. His hand is clasped as if it once held something. On the other side of the of the piece is some sort of a featd half man, half bird creature with arms. The hands are also clasped like they once held something. The bottom of the piece has a round neck with two ears on it like it used to lock into a base or something t The piece has some damage on one side, as is shown in the picture, that looks like something heavy was dropped on the lip of it and split it. Other than that, the urn appear to be in very good condition and has a very nice aged patina to the bronze over it's entire surface. If anyone has any additional info on this piece, please let me know!! A very interesting antique Asian piece to add to your collection or for display!!
