This is a VERY RARE World War II 1943 - 1945 Zippo lighter. This Zippo is a "Special Order" model without the Black Crackle paint. Zippo stated that during World War II all models were "Shipped to the Seat of War," but Zippo also produced several "special order" models made of steel with a 3 Barrel hinge and a "high polish" finish that had monograms, signatures, and etc. This model lacks the black crackle paint, but still has the slightly curved out bottom. This plated three barrel Zippo has engravings on the lid and case bottom of the front and also the back. It is also engraved on the top of the lid. All engravings are fancy and very well done. This Zippo belonged to Chief Warrant Officer (C.W.O.) Evan Y. Davis. The front lid is engraved "T.C." for Transportation Corps. The front bottom is engraved with the Transportation Corps Patch/Insignia which shows the compass points that has a wheel with wings in the center. The actual color of this patch is red/gold. The back lid is engraved "U.S." for United States. The back bottom is engraved with fancy designs and "C. W. O. Evan Y. Davis". The top of the lid is engraved with his service number, which I believe is "W-2131007". T are no major scratches, dents, or dings on this case. Shows only very light handling. The 3 Barrel hinge has only a slight amount of play. The original insert read more
