VERY VERY LONG UZBEK HAND EMBROIDERY SUZANI WALL FRIEZE Suzani, which means needlework in Persian, is the name given to large, embroidered textiles from Central Asia that were used as hangings or bed covers. Suzane are remarkable objects, reflecting in artistic form the traditional understanding of the universe, nature, happiness and love."Zardevor" embroidered wall friezes. They were embroidered as a Suzani and after the Suzani they are the next most common embroidered item in Uzbek homes. Intended specifically for the interior of houses they decorate the upper part of the front and side walls of a room. They hang above colourful suzane, so their patterns often duplicate their ornamental composition.Decoration and Ornament: Zardevor has beautiful and various patterns. The predominant type is represented by zardevor decorated with rhythmically alternating large round medallions with patterns imitating almond flowers, tulips and vegetative bines scattered between them similar to those on suzane. Sometimes medallions are decoraled in a form of six-pointed or eight-pointed star-shaped medallions.The size 120 x 18 inches or 300 x 46 cm. Foundation is semi silk fabric.
