The part has been carefully inspected, cleaned, rebuilt, aligned, and tested by me, Walt Sommers, owner of Gettysburg Antique Phonographs. I am also including 300 Brand New Steel Needles (100 Loud, 100 Medium, and 100 Soft) for your enjoyment. I guarantee your satisfaction with the quality and performance of this part. Please take your time and study the information and pictures presented here and feel free to email me .This reproducer was carefully disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned and hand buffed. The nickel plating is in very nice condition with little wear that is consistent with a part of this age that has been responsibly used. The black oxidized finish on the rear casting is very good and has been carefully cleaned and polished. During alignment of the reproducer the needle arm screws were adjusted for proper tension of the balance springs and optimum centering of the arm. This is necessary so that the reproducer has the possible volume and optimum fidelity. The balance springs are original and are in perfect working order. The original mica was damaged. I replaced it with a new, custom cut, mica diaphragm that has been carefully measured, thinned and tested for the best possible fidelity. New rubber diaphragm gaskets have been installed to replace the originals which had hardened from age. New beeswax was applied to the needle bar/diaphragm connection according to the Victor Talking Machine patent. The thumbscrew is a replacement because the original was missing. The replacement fits perfectly.This reproducer sounds great and I trust you will be delighted with it! It is the perfect reproducer for your Victor Talking machine or almost any floor or table model Victrola. If you have an old reproducer that buzzes like an angry hornet, or has old gaskets, a cracked diaphragm, or broken balance springs then you need me to rebuild it or trade it in on this one! All work is guaranteed for one full year.People often ask me whether they should replace an existing reproducer that they already have with one that I am selling. My preference as a collector is to keep original machines and their components together as much as possible and I recommend that advice to you also. But depending on how badly damaged your current reproducer is it might make good sense to replace it. As an example, compare the price of replacing your reproducer with the cost of me rebuilding it for you. Since I only charge $24 for a typical rebuild which includes complete disassembly, cleaning, polishing, new diaphragm gaskets, a diaphragm if it is required, a tone arm mounting flange/gasket, and balance springs if they are needed, it may not make sense. But if your reproducer is severely rusted or damaged with broken screws, or it is so badly oxidized that it requires nickel plating, then it could wind up costing more to repair than replacing with one I have listed. In cases like that I can normally accept an old reproducer as a trade-in.The Victor No.2, Exhibition and No.4 can be used in the place of each other. They are suitable for most Victor Talking Machines and Victrolas with the exception of the Orthophonics. They can also be used with many other brands of phonographs. This reproducer would be the perfect touch for your VV-IV, VI, VIII, IX, X, XI, XIV, XVI, XVII, XVIII, VTLA and so on.
