Victorian Aesthetic Transferware Large Tea Pot 1884 Manufactured by William Alsager Adderley, a Staffordshire Pottery in England, with the Rd No dating its registration to 1884. In the pattern, "Alton", this large Victorian tea or coffee pot features a delightful array of green transfer images, including small country vignettes, village scenes, lakeside images, and a person fishing at water's side. These vignettes have been embellished with various floral sprigs and even a tiny butterfly. The transfers have been selectively tinted in green, blue, deep ochre, and rose glazes. As is typical for Staffordshire pieces of this era, the lid of the pot is not a "perfect" fit and sits a bit high. With a small darkened area on the underside of the spout (not easily seen unless inverted), this Victorian piece measures approximately 8¼" high by 8½" from the tip of the spout to the tip of the handle and is in overall excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, and no repairs.
