VICTORIAN ANTIQUE CLOCKWORK CAST IRON MECHANICAL TURTLE COUNTER TOP or HALL BELL Another quality item searched for with care by Jims Things A most interesting and extremely rare Victorian counter top bell invariably used in the larger homes as a front hall call bell. It is many years since I have been able to offer one of these and its condition is perfect. The bell is cast iron and can be rung by a clockwork motor from the tail of the animal or by pressing the head down, either end activating the same mechanism which is wound from the built in key at the base. From the head to the tail the bell is 7 inches long with the shell being 4 1/2 inches from front to back and is amazingly realistic with the original patina from years of use giving it a lovely colour. This is not the Spanish made brass topped reproduction that you may see. It is the real thing well over a century old. Your bid confirms acceptance of these terms and conditions Terms & Conditions
