Victorian Antique Old London Town Watercolour PaintingFree Mainland UK And Ireland Delivery Description: An exquisite townscape watercolour on artist's paper dating circa 1870 - 1890, framed - approx 19 X 19 inches (48.26 X 48.26cm).This is an exquisite English School watercolour dating from the Victorian period. The townscape depicts a classic late 19th Century mid to late Victorian antique romanticist study of the London landscape. Beautifully detailed, the moonlight shining on the quiet waters where Thames barges make their way down river. Tall multi-storied buildings stand on the waterfront, the skyline dominated by the familiar dome of St. Paul's Cathedral situated on Ludgate Hill, the highest point in London. A fabulous view of old London town by moonlight. Date: The watercolour probably dates to around 1870 - 1890. Framing: Later plain moulded Pine. Finish: Limed. The watercolour is mounted on board and has a blue mount. Condition: The painting retains good colour for its age. There is some discolouring to the artist's paper, particularly to the sky area, of no great detriment only adding to character and authenticity and not ususal in a watercolour of this age. The frame has some minor marks as does the mount. The painting would probably benefit from a light clean from behind the glass. Dimensions Frame Image Width: 19 inches read more
