This is a beautiful VICTORIAN ANTIQUE ROSEWOOD & BURR WALNUT INLAID TEA CADDY In my estimation it dates from around the mid 19th Century, circa 1840-1860, but please make up your own mind about this. The caddy measures approx 11 3/4 inches (300mm) long, by 6 inches (155mm) deep, by 7 inches (175mm) tall, and is made to a typical "Sarcophagus" form, from polished rosewood & burr walnut. The hinged lid opens & closes with a snug fit, it has brass, lion ring drop handles at either side, and stands on four bun feet. Inside, there are two, lift out, inner caddies, and there is a central well for a mixing bowl. The workmanship is lovely, and this is a TOP QUALITY piece. It is in very good condition with light wear consistent with its age, but no major damage, or woodworm. This is a fine example of its type and it would make a great addition to any collection.
