Bohemian garnets, long considered one of the Victorian era's most classic of gemstones found their way in the late 1800's to be fashioned in one of the most extravagant and unusual pieces of fine jewelry in the exquisite item presented in. Hand tooled of silver base with pinchbeck and gold, the item was used in three manners ~ ~ ~ as a stunning pendant, as a timeless brilliant brooch, and/or as locket in which to place a loved one's picture or other cherished keepsake. The entirety measures 2" vertically, 1.5" horizontally and is 1/2' at widest depth. Composed of three main tiers, the outside edges of 12 points step down from the two oval ringed interior ones which surround the magnificent center. All garnets are deep set, open backed and aligned with gold ball detail and are table cut and rose cut in 4 varied sizes and dimensions .... a total 200 original hand cut Bohemian garnets! As a brooch: the hallmarked pin, solidly encased within its hinge, angles and turns inward and crosses the back glass cover of locket ... securing its closure in its fine hallmarked "C" clasp. The edge of the hinge has a tiny loop which fold inward after fastened. After closure, one also folds the "C " clasp itself inward toward gold edge of locket casing.
