Victorian Christmas or Greeting card from the Louis Prang Co. 1881. Religious text. Silk fringe. Beautiful white frowers with red tinting. Appx 5" x 8". No markings on the back, just a printed design. The silk is a bit rough, but the image is clean and strong. Louis Prang (March 1824 - September 1909) was an American printer, lithographer and publisher. At Christmas 1873, Prang began creating greeting cards for the popular market in England and began selling the Christmas card in America the next year. Tfore, he is sometimes called the "father of the American Christmas card.
