For Auction this super Antique Early - Mid - Victorian Solid Mahogany Display Case c 1850 -1890 . This case was used to display Military Medals and Badges , although I would guess it would also suit jewellery , brooches , pins and necklace chains. The case is made from sold mahogany with brass hinges and escutcheon key plate and has the original steel key..the case also has a Elkington - Manchester brass name plate. The two display boards were originally fixed , these have been replaced with two removable burgundy velvet covered polystyrene tiles , they are very effective although it would be relatively easy to replace them with fibre-board backs if desired. MEASURING APPROXIMATELY .... OPEN.........484mm(19 1/8in)..x..314mm(12 3/8in)..x..64mm(2 1/2in). CLOSED....343mm(13 1/2in)..x..243mm(9 5/8in)tall..x..64mm(2 1/2in). BASE.........383mm(15 1/8in)..x..111mm(4 3/8in). EACH BURGUNDY PAD = 292mm(11 1/2in)..x..218mm(8 5/8in). WEIGHING APPROXIMATELY .......1877gms UNPACKED. PLEASE NOTE ... This is an original Victorian Antique Solid Mahogany Display Case....In general good - fair antique condition commensurate with materials great age and lots of use.
