Offered in excellent new old stock condition is a lot of 12 (1 dozen) unmarked, but known to be from the John Holland Pen Co. gold filled (or heavy gold plate) Victorian slide pencils patented about 1880. Some years ago we purchased a large quantity of these when they surfaced from an estate in South Florida. We installed the fat leads called "shorty leads" in different colors and packaged them for sale at pen and antique shows w we have been selling them at $20-$25 each for a number of years. Having made only a small dent in the, over 600, we purchased, we are offering them a dozen at a time now and then on ebay. They clean up very nicely and buyers dozen will come bagged, with an assortment of lead colors and a small information paper giving some of the history. These were probably given out as party favors on a ribbon to Victorian era ladies, perhaps to fill out their dance cards when that was the practice of the times. These make great historical gifts for your more regressive friends. They measure just under 2 inches long. As always, buyer pays only actual shipping with never a "handling" fee. Insurance is optional but recommended as we cannot be responsible for the quality of mail service. International shipping will be a bit higher but still only actual.
