Beautifully engraved! This lovely gold-filled buckle bracelet from the Victorian era is lightly engraved with an elaborate pattern of flowers, vines and leaves against a textured background. The push clasp is in excellent working condition and the safety chain appears to be original to the bracelet. Perfect condition with no damage, dents, repairs or signs of wear. It appears to have been very gently worn. Marked "12 KGF" & "F.M. Co." (Finberg Manufacturing Co., 1885-?) Gold-filled is a layer of 10Kt or better gold mechanically bonded under heat & pressure to one or more surfaces of supporting base metal, then rolled or drawn to a given thickness. Gold-filled items are considered fine jewelry, not costume. The gold layer will not quickly wear off, as it will in electroplated products. The finished piece of jewelry has a surface layer of gold of the appropriate karatage, which is very thick compared to rolled gold plate or the heaviest electroplate ( = gold plated) material.(Item #10247)Circa: 1885-1920 Composition: Gold-filled Size: 6 1/2 inch inside diameter x 1/2 inch wide Maker: F.M. Co.(Finberg Manufacturing Co., 1885-?) Clasp: Push with safety chain.
