Lovely To Behold Antiques & Treasures A Fine Victorian High Relief Beautifully Hand Carved Greek Goddess Red Coral 10k Gold Cameo Ring. This is an exquisite depiction of a lovely Greek goddess hand carved out of red coral, most probably from the Mediterranean Sea. It is set in an elongated 10k gold octagon setting with very delicate engraving. The actual cameo measures 12mm tall, 8mm wide and the relief above the bezel measures 2mm in height. The gold decorative frame around it measures 16mm tall and 12mm wide. The band is stamped 10k and its ring size is 5.75. The whole ring weighs 2 grams. This beautiful cameo ring is in excellent antique condition. Red Coral, being a natural substrate, does have slight gradients and intrinsic imperfections, which are all a part of its natural beauty. T are no two cameo's alike, for the techniques, styles, impressions and characteristic designs are all features of the artist, that hand carved each lovely sculpture. The carved cameo itself has no true signs of wear. The woman's nose does seem a little thin and we are not sure if it was carved that way or if, at an earlier date, it had been rubbed or nicked a little . It is smooth with no sharp edges.
