A delightful antique Victorian Irish Bog Oak pill or trinket box, dating to the mid to late 1800s. Hand carved from Irish bog oak, the box is beautifully decorated all around with a carved frieze design. The lid features Blarney castle, fabulously hand carved in deep relief, and edged with carved shamrocks, and the legend "Blarney". The pot measures 2" in diameter, and stands 1 1/2" high. The lid is a slightly larger 2 1/8" in diameter. A beautiful example of Victorian Irish bog oak.The Lid is broken into 2 pieces and has a small chip. The base has a hairline crack in it.
