Victorian Royal Navy Chinese Boxer Rebellion Cabinet Photograph HMS Aurora Hong Kong Rare cabinet photograph of crew members "3 Mess HMS Aurora" taken in Hong Kong around 1900. Aurora was an Ironclad Armoured Cruiser, one of the naval vessels which took part in the Chinese Expedition to quell the Boxer uprising under the command of Admiral Sir Edward Seymour. The photograph is 16.5 cm by 10.5 cm. Marked (front & back) by the photographer: Yee Chan HONG KONG. The reverse has a Hong Kong address as 50 Queens Road. The gilt of the lettering is worn (see image). A number of crew members of Aurora were mentioned in Admiral Seymours despatches. The image is in good order apart from a 3cm tear at the bottom right hand corner. Sold with no reserve.
